When we purchased our “fixer upper” vacation home on Cape Cod in 2010, we knew that we wanted the end result to include modern technology without sacrificing the cottage-like atmosphere we wanted to create. Our builder referred to us to ACT, and we asked them to create a comprehensive system incorporating climate control, security, lighting and audio/visual. ACT delivered a cost-effective proposal based on Savant technology, and seamlessly integrated the system with our builder and various subcontractors. The end result is an incredible system that allows us to monitor our “cottage” from anywhere in the world from an iPhone app, including remote temperature control, lighting, video monitoring and security, as well as the ability to control all audio/visual systems remotely. All systems can also be controlled within the home using strategically docked iPads and iTouches mounted in the walls, or from our personal iPhones. ACT staff were a pleasure to work with and the Savant system helps us feel more connected to a home we wish we could visit more often! I highly recommend ACT to anyone considering incorporating a system like ours.

I’m a big fan of ACT (and Savant). Here’s why:
- We’re an Apple family: iMac, MacBook Pro, AirMac, iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, iTunes, Apple TV. Savant was built for Mac and it works intuitively.
- High-end home systems are always touchy at first. The ACT team has endless patience, and “tweaked” the system countless times at no charge to make it perfect.
- My wife can’t work anything electronic. She mastered the Savant system quickly, with no stress.
- The system is infinitely scaleable. Install the basics, then add security cameras, outdoor theatre, etc. at a later date — super easy.
- ACT folks (Paul, Keith, etc.) are seriously the nicest folks. My kids cling to them when they show up. They’ll work nights/weekends if something goes awry before a big party, etc.
- Value for the money. I’m an audiophile “wanna be.” Enough to know Sonos and similar wireless audio systems are no match for proper hardwiring.
- ACT suggested I spend $150k on my home system; I cut it to $100k. They suggested $120k, I stuck to $100k and they got to work. As the build unfolded, I realized they were right on all counts. In the end, I spent $150k. They were spot-on for what I needed (7 new TVs, 3D/gaming for the kids, top notch video and audio components inside and outside).
I have had the pleasure of working with ACT on multiple commercial and residential projects. Their professionalism, quality control, ability to deliver and practical application of often complicated information has served our projects, staff and clients particularly well.

The universal devices are working very nicely. The installation was done in a very professional manner and it was easy to tell you guys really have your stuff in order. I’ve used ACT for my home phone installation and now the remotes. In both cases, you delivered what you promised and on time. You did not solicit this or ask for a recommendation.
It’s my hope you’ll show it to prospective clients so they don’t make some of the mistakes I made with two local companies. I won’t mention them by name-one is a chain and the other an audio theater dealer. Both experiences were not professional. We contacted ACT as well as a couple other firms while planning for structured wiring, a home theater and other entertainment options in our new house. We found Paul and Keith to be very helpful and responsive in developing systems that worked within our budget. The systems were installed in a timely and professional manner and they have been quick to respond to some “fine tuning” requests following completion of the project. We use the entertainment and networking systems daily and their performance continue to delight us. We feel their recommendations met our requirements perfectly and I would not hesitate to recommend their services to our friends.
Working with a well known custom builder, we solicited proposals for providing a high-end audio visual solution for a house in Nantucket. We were working on a very tight schedule and obviously wanted someone who could deliver to a high standard, but who also could listen to us, understand what we needed and propose something suitable. As we live in London and didn’t have time to meet in person, finding a company that would be a good fit wasn’t easy. On paper, it was difficult to distinguish between the bids, but once we started speaking to ACT directly, it was clear that they were the right choice.
During the design phase, we spoke over the phone and exchanged numerous emails. ACT quickly figured out what our priorities were and put together an impressive component list. They made great suggestions and we were happy to follow most of them. We always felt that they were totally focused on meeting our need rather than just banging out a cookie cutter solution. ACT delivered a well thought out and perfectly designed solution for our needs. They handled the distances involved (both between Nantucket and their office and between them and us) with no difficulty and worked very well with the designer and contractors to solve the inevitable engineering challenges. The end product more than met our expectations. From a technical standpoint, installation, cabling and integration with furniture and cabinetry was perfect. The level of support and efficiency of communication during the project and after installation has been flawless. But, in the end, what really mattered to us was quality of sound and we couldn’t have been more pleased. We would without hesitation not only recommend ACT but we will use them again on our next project.
When we moved into our Boston condo in 2004, we began looking for a company to provide and install a flat-panel TV in our kitchen and eventually a surround-sound home theater system in our den. We initially met with electricians, Best Buy, Tweeter and a few small A/V companies. ACT actually sent experienced team members for our small kitchen project estimate and clearly better understood our needs. While the kitchen install was relatively straightforward the ACT team was on-time, thorough and treated the job with all the attention of a larger project. In April of 2006, ACT installed a 50-inch plasma display and surround-sound home theater system in our den. Once again the ACT team was prompt, diligent, friendly and very knowledgeable. Over the years we have had many firms help us with home projects and repairs.
